What is a cooperative preschool?

A cooperative preschool allows you to be directly involved with your child’s preschool education. Being able to participate with your child, and the teacher, guarantees young children are safe and with the best teachers. Interacting with a community of other parents who share your commitment to childhood and receiving modeling by the teacher as you help, gives you opportunities to learn alongside your child. Most importantly, choosing a cooperative preschool gives you extra time to bond with your child and create memories together. Your child will always know that education is important in your family because you live it everyday.

Why choose a cooperative preschool?

At Trinity, we see partnering with parents as an opportunity for children to be exposed to various cultures and styles of learning. While teachers ultimately lead the curriculum in a structured way, parents become a part of implementing that in fun and safe ways.

How much of a time commitment does Trinity require of parents who co-op?

Preschool co-oping differs between schools. At Trinity, the co-op time commitment is typically twice a month, three hours each time.

I work full-time and so does my spouse, how would we be able to co-op?

Some parents call Trinity “co-op lite” because a parent’s commitment in the classroom for the Three’s and Pre-K classes is only twice a month, and four times a month in the Twos class. Our full time working parents see this as very manageable opportunity given their busy schedule.

How will I know what do to?

On your co-op day, you oversee a specific area or activity such as art, snack, yard, etc. You arrive a bit early to sign up for your area and chat with the teachers about any special instructions. Procedure cards are provided, but the "job" is very intuitive! In no time, you'll be perfectly at ease with your co-op routine.

What are the other parent commitments at Trinity?

  • Twos Class: Two required night classes per year.
  • Three’s and Pre-K Classes: Three night classes per year.
  • Maintenance Day: Parents are asked to participate in a (3 hour) maintenance day on a Saturday once a year. If you are not able to join your scheduled maintenance day, you may request a trade from other parents.

In addition, Trinity offers two optional parent education classes throughout the year.
